The D.E.F. in DEF davyne…

I put this blog on my site to let you know I’m a normal human being just like you. I have worked hard for everything I have in life, and I believe that my good fortune is simply the product of that hard work. As a Southern California native, I was lucky enough to be raised in a city full of cultural diversity. Unfortunately, along with that diversity came adversity from gangs, drugs and a lack of money. I was tired of starving on my lunch breaks and wearing hand-me-downs, so I got my first job at age 12 as a paperboy. For lack of a better term, I became very materialistic.

As a child, I wanted nothing more than to not be broke. I set all my goals on attaining artificial happiness, and by the time I was 21 I had done just that. It didn’t take me very long to realize that money wasn’t going to buy me happiness. I had no real purpose in life until I was 23, and my son Elijah was born. Fast forward to age 30 and the birth of my daughter Audrey, and you will start to understand that I am still growing, not only as an artist, but as a human being.
